The last day in Saliste was under the slogan "investment for future". After five intensive days the trip goes further to Targu-Mures.
The fifth day of our stay in Romania was very exciting and there is a lot to talk about. The day started as usual with breakfast at 8:30am. Afterwards, we walked to the gym and prepared the morning lesson for the school kids. We had no idea if they come, how many come and how old they would be. So we stayed flexible as usual and started with a warm-up game amongst our own team for about half an hour which is always a lot of fun! We could say we have our own training camp during these two weeks! Let’s see if it helps us for next season…
Then the kids arrived and it didn’t stop! We were in the end 55 kids and one class who was there already yesterday turned up a second time. It seems that we did a good job and they love the floorball. ;-) Luckily, we had two fields, so one part of our team took the smaller kids and the other part the elderly ones. It was fantastic to see that the kids from yesterday already improved their skills and especially their behavior, they knew now how it works with us. The two hours passed quickly and it was a full success.
Arriving back into the house after walking through a big snow storm (yes, we had snow almost every day so far!), we were welcomed by a wonderful delicious meal: schnitzel and mashed potatoes waited for us. The local kitchen team spoiled us on this day, thank you again!
In the afternoon, there was the last school lesson on the program and again we had no idea if or who would turn up. This time, we could teach teenagers our beloved sport floorball. They were very motivated and some had really good skills. It was especially nice to see that the girls took part so well because this is really a sport for everyone, not like football here…
After the lesson at 4:00pm, it was time to say good-bye to the gym and put together all the material including the boards. The school kids helped us with everything so we were quickly finished. After a short shower and after packing all the luggage and material into the two busses, we left Saliste and drove three hours to Tirgu Mures where our program continues. Talk to you soon again! J
